Envirobat BDM : Professionals water meetings on CARDIMED Demo 5 in Marseille

All our French partners, SEMIDE, Aix-Marseille University, EMPAN and Region Sud, were proud to wear the CARDIMED colors at the professional water meetings organized by Envirobat BDM on November 29 in Marseille, France.

The theme of this technical information day for construction and landscaping companies was soil unsealing. The Saint Jérôme campus, Demonstrator n°5 of the CARDIMED project, was the perfect venue to illustrate this point!

This second edition of the professional water meetings was organized in partnership with the Water Agency Rhône Méditerranée Corse (AERMC), Aix-Marseille University and the Agence Régionale Biodiversité Environnement (ARBE).

Over a hundred participants, including professional urban planners, landscape architects, financing bodies, local and regional authorities, researchers and SMEs, took part in the day’s events.

Numerous presentations were given, including an explanation of funding policies in the water sector by AERMC (the main funder of the CARDIMED demonstration sites), rainwater management by the metropolis of Aix-Marseille, and sustainable rainwater management on a regional scale associated with a proper use of SFNs by ARBE.

The Saint Jérôme and Saint Charles campus unsealing and greening project was also presented by Alain Sandoz from AMU, and the CARDIMED project was introduced to the participants by Elrik Du Saillant Du Luc from SEMIDE. The various AMU researchers working on the project also explained the foundations and objectives of their research, before taking all the participants directly into the field to present the demonstrator site. The site visit presented the integration of SFNs within the campus, such as bioswale, urban micro forest and porous covering. Researchers were also able to show professionals their in-situ sensors and explain the importance of scientific monitoring for climate resilience.
