Within the CARDIMED project, networking activities are conducted to share experiences and best practices among strategic Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) projects in Spain. Specifically, sessions are being organized by our partners CETAQUA and AQUATEC to create meeting points and share experiences among municipalities that are developing projects funded by Fundación Biodiversidad.
The sessions last one hour and are structured as follows:
- Background and motivation of the project
- Project description: Objectives, timelines, budget, etc.
- Actions to be executed
- Presentation of the Cardimed project and the replicability case in Murcia
- Debate/questions
The first meeting, held on May 7th, was an opportunity to share challenges, impacts, and results from the CARDIMED project and a Fundación Biodiversidad project in Granada – “Granada Respira”. The session was a success, raising many territorial challenges during the discussion, which led to the organization of more sessions of this kind.
The second session, held on June 20th, focused on the Fundación Biodiversidad Project “Bosque Romano”. It was conducted virtually with approximately 20 participants. Bosque Romano is unique in that it is the first time an urban land area has been converted into a green zone. The project’s actions include the renaturalisation of green spaces, implementation of green corridors, removal of invasive exotic species, the introduction of native flora or renaturalisation in private gardens. Without forgetting the importance of raising awareness, with iniciatives such as environmental education activities, green volunteering and dissemination days.
The third session took place on July 16th and presented the Fundación Biodiversidad project for the restoration of the former Segura River channel in the Vivillo meander (VIVILLO).
