On 14 November 2025, CARDIMED was presented at the Jornadas de Economía Circular y Nuevos Materiales (Circular Economy and New Materials Conference), held in Cartagena, Spain. The event was organised by the City Council of Cartagena and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), bringing together companies, researchers, public institutions and professionals from the architecture, engineering and construction sectors.
The conference focused on innovative approaches to sustainability, with a particular emphasis on circularity and the use of new eco-materials in urban environments.
CTCON, one of CARDIMED’s project partners, participated in the event and was represented by Fernando Fernández, who delivered a presentation about the Horizon Europe project CARDIMED. His intervention introduced the project’s vision of strengthening climate resilience across Mediterranean regions through the implementation of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS).
During the presentation, Fernando highlighted several CARDIMED demonstrations that showcase how NBS can contribute to more resilient, efficient and sustainable territories. These include actions designed to:

Improve water management by promoting circular and decentralised systems.

Integrate green infrastructure into buildings and public spaces, enhancing environmental and social benefits.

Boost energy efficiency through approaches such as green roofs, vertical greening and rainwater harvesting.

Engage local communities, fostering environmental awareness and active participation in adaptation solutions.
The event provided an excellent opportunity to share CARDIMED’s progress and connect with professionals committed to advancing circular economy practices and sustainable innovation.
