In the context of the EU Green Week 2024, CARDIMED is organizing a webinar focused on Implementing Nature-based Solutions for Water Resilience in the Mediterranean region.
EU Green Week is an annual opportunity to raise awareness, promote and discuss European environmental policy. Organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Environment, this high-level event attracts policymakers, leading environmentalists, stakeholders, and interested parties from across Europe and the globe.
The objective of EU Green Week 2024 is to stimulate an EU-wide conversation around the EU’s water, present and future, with an emphasis on fostering awareness and promoting positive, collaborative solutions.
Faced with recurrent water-related crises, this edition of the annual conference will debate what is needed to make the EU more water resilient, today and tomorrow.
The webinar organized by CARDIMED focuses on the implementation of nature-based solutions for climate resilience in the Mediterranean region. The vision of CARDIMED is to establish a framework and network for enhancing climate resilience in the Mediterranean biogeographical region, by implementing and mainstreaming NBS for climate adaptation and mitigation.
To realise this vision, CARDIMED recognises the importance of integrating innovation across multiple disciplines, structuring the project on four pillars:
- Digital technologies,
- Social Resilience,
- WEFE Nexus,
- Nature-based Solutions.
During the event, speakers will focus on water circularity and resilience and how they can be achieved through the four pillars. The CARDIMED lead researchers of each pillar will present the state-of-the-art and the innovations applied at the 9 demonstration sites of the project.
