CARDIMED at the Urban Agriculture Festival 2025 in Nice

Our French CARDIMED partner SEMIDE has left its mark at the Urban Agriculture Festival in Nice on the 6 September 2025.

Every year, the city of Nice organizes the Urban Agriculture festival, as part of the San Bertoumieu heritage festival. For this third edition, every citizen was invited to come and meet the actors of the world of agriculture at this festive and convivial event!

The Cardimed project was represented by Eric Mino and Elrik Du Saillant Du Luc, both members of the SEMIDE, the leader of the CARDIMED DEMO5 in France.

Over 80 stands have been set up, as well as a space for meetings and round-table discussions on urban agriculture around the world.

Workshops, artisan and producer markets, conferences and round table: the event offered a wide range of free activities all day long, enabling every kind of public to discover the world of agriculture in a different way, during a festive and convivial interlude.

Our partners from SEMIDE presented the CARDIMED project outcomes and solutions, explained the main goal of the Nature Based Solutions within the agriculture topic and how the CARDIMED project is built. They had the opportunity to talk and exchange with local stakeholders like the Metropole Nice Côte d’Azur, the City of Nice, PMEs, local farmers, local universities and citizens.

Visitors learned about innovative agricultural practice using NBS but also the importance of renaturation in the urban area and the impacts of bioswale, urban micro forest, unsealing and porous asphalt utilization.

The SEMIDE Director, Eric Mino, took part in a round table about “Gravity irrigation: heritage and water resources” explaining the importance of NbS in water management.

This event is known to present numerous opportunities for advances in the field of urban agriculture and nature management, and it provided us with an excellent platform to showcase our contributions to flood mitigation.
