Our French partners, SEMIDE and Aix-Marseille University, were proud to promote the CARDIMED project at the Azurean Water meeting organized by Éa éco-entreprises and the Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur on March 20 in Nice, France.
This event was part of the “Water in the Alpes-Maritimes Territories” Chair, with a particular focus on innovative solutions and approaches to rainwater management, biodiversity preservation, climate change adaptation and sustainable development of coastal and urban areas.
This first edition enabled more than 120 professionals to come together and discuss a common topic. The Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur was present at this event alongside other institutional actors, various regional authorities, universities, design and consulting firms, developers, research laboratories and companies offering innovative solutions.
The day was organized around three round tables interspersed with pitches presenting European projects. During the first roundtable, entitled “Permeable City: an asset for the sea and our coastal territories”, Alain Sandoz, AMU‘s representative within CARDIMED, presented the work carried out on the DEMO 5 site and the university’s desire to continue this process. Eric Mino of SEMIDE, leader of DEMO 5, then presented the project during a pitch dedicated to it. He was able to highlight the nature-based solutions implemented as part of the project in Marseille and also explained the case of the Italian demonstrator in Catania, which faces the same issues. The NWRM database (Natural Water Retention Measures Platform) was also presented, which interested several stakeholders.
Inspiring talks on the basis of the permeable city concept and its concrete impacts took place during the day, with great prospects for the implementation of concrete solutions. The audience, which was very interested, engaged in constructive and enriching discussions between local authorities, companies and experts in the sector.
