Our CARDIMED French demonstrator Aix-Marseille University (AMU) was present at the final conference of the project “Acclimate-yourself!” on September 28th, to talk about the CARDIMED goals and objectives in France. Thomas Fasquelle from the research lab IUSTI of AMU, well represented our project during this event, accompanied by our faithful CARDIMED roll-up.
As part of a call for projects on the Marseille Metropole’s ecological transition, the “CPIE des pays d’Aix” of the South Region of France, is organizing events and conferences aimed at the general public. The project is called “Acclimate-yourself!” and aims to engage participants in a process of change and taking action. They organized the project around a number of different times and formats (games, workshops, activities and visits) from June to September 2024. The project culminated in a big final event gathering all the participants.
Around 40 people were present, mostly citizens and local authorities.
It was organized as follows:
- In the first phase (2:00 pm to 5:00 pm): stands were set up by local players and associations on various themes (waste management, biodiversity, mobility, air quality, etc.).
- Secondly, a conference/debate was organized from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, in which Thomas Fasquelle, a researcher on air quality and weather condition from AMU, took part.
Thomas Fasquelle was one of two guests at this conference/debate. Following a talk on climate change by Joel Guiot of GREC-Sud, Thomas discussed the various solutions for adapting cities to climate change, along with their advantages and disadvantages, and then focused on those implemented in the CARDIMED project.
