CARDIMED made its debut at the SudBioDiv regional day on October 14th! Our French partners from REGION SUD and SEMIDE were present at this technical conference, gathering all the environmental organization of the south region, to talk about the CARDIMED project.
The SudBioDiv regional day has the goal to gather all the professional actors who act or want to act for biodiversity and the natural water resource conservation. The motto of this meeting was “Climate change and biodiversity emergencies are mutually increasing, they must then be solved together.” This one-day event was organized by ARBE (Regional agency of biodiversity and environment) in the heart of Marseille and welcomed around 400 people.
That conference offered different time of talk between the participants to present their work, express views, show projects, debate or give some expert feedback. The event was built around presentation, exhibition and roundtable.
Around 40 speakers were presenting, and the opening speech has been said by Jean Jouzel, climate expert and ex vice-president of the GIEC. Remembering that climate and biodiversity are two sides of the same coin, and that climate change is a threat for humanity and our surrounding nature.
The people present were from many different organizations such as local and regional authorities, environmental police, study office, digital experts, urban planners, citizens etc.
Elrik Du Saillant Du Luc, from SEMIDE, and Marie Caroline Vallon, from REGION SUD, had the chance to talk about CARDIMED during a roundtable about “Towards an ecosystemic urban development”. They explained the different sensors that have been implemented on the DEMO 5 site and how the data would be used to prove the role of NBS implementation in the climate change adaptation of the cities.
