Short Description:

The largest multidisciplinary French-speaking university, Aix-Marseille University (AMU) welcomes 80,000 students and nearly 8,000 staff on 5 large campuses meeting international standards. The Environmental Chemistry Laboratory (LCE) is a Joint Research Unit (UMR7376) supervised by Aix-Marseille University and the CNRS (National Institute of Chemistry). It is located on the Saint-Charles campus in Marseille.

Role in CARDIMED:

In the CARDIMED, AMU (with LCE) work on the development of nature-based solutions specifically tested on DEMO5 Micro-forests and unsealed soils in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region, France (SEMIDE) with scientific measures (water, air, biodiversity, soils...) focused on creating pervious / permeable surfaces at two University campuses located in Marseille. The Saint-Jérôme site in a peri-urban context and the Saint-Charles site is in the city center.
