Short Description:

The Università Politecnica delle Marche (UNIVPM) has its headquarters in Ancona (Italy) and seven campuses in the region for over 400 000 m2. UNIVPM has five main thematic areas in Agricultural Sciences, Economics, Engineering & Architecture, Medicine & Surgery Sciences. UNIVPM counts more than 350 PhD and about 17000 students. There are over 600 Academic staff, while 250 are research assistants and more than 570 are technical and admin staff. UNIVPM is the second in Italy for 5-years employment rate and the 3rd for technological transfer.

Role in CARDIMED:

UNIVPM will bring major expertise in the field of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) for sustainable and resilient agricultural practice, advanced municipal wastewater treatment and safe reuse, sustainable aquaculture. UNIVPM will lead the DEMO3 Decarbonization of agricultural practices and combating agricultural pollution in Sardinia, Italy (UNIVPM) whose scope is sustainable, decarbonized and WEFE optimized agriculture and aquaculture. Three main departments and research groups will be involved in CARDIMED: (1) the SIMAU department with the Water and Waste Environmental Engineering Lab (WWEELab), led by Prof. Francesco Fatone; (2) the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Science, with the group led by Prof. Luigi Ledda; (3) the Department of Life and Environmental Science, with the group led by Prof. Ike Olivotto. UNIVPM manages R+D+I projects funded by the main EU green research programs (e.g. HORIZON 2020, HORIZON EUROPE, PRIMA Initiative, WATER JPI, LIFE, ENI CBC MED, Climate-KIC COSME).
