Short Description:

SVIMED is a not-for-profit organisation based in Ragusa (Sicily) which, since 2003, invests energies and resources to support, through concrete actions, the European Cohesion Policy and the effectiveness of the Gothenburg Sustainable Development Strategy, through research, promotion, exploitation and protection of resources and environmental and cultural heritage, in a vision of sustainable and harmonious development of territories. SVIMED facilitates the processes of sustainable development of the territory, through active collaboration with local, regional and national bodies, public and private stakeholders, research and educational institutions, in order to implement processes of sustainable development in the European Mediterranean area.

Role in CARDIMED:

SVIMED is the reference partner for one of the DEMO sites of the CARDIMED project. In particular, thanks to another project (ENI CBC MED NAWAMED), SVIMED has installed a green wall called Wall2Water ( www.pareteverdeferla.it ) for the treatment and reuse of grey water in the school of Ferla (SR - Sicily). This installation will be monitored during the CARDIMED project and activities will be developed to share the results with the other partners and to involve more and more local and regional stakeholders in an up-scaling and mainstreaming process.
