The Government of Aragon (DGA) is the Public Administration of Aragon region in Spain. One of the departments the Government of Aragon is divided in Departments, is the Environment and Tourism Department, which is in charge of developing this proposal. The Environment and Tourism Department assumes within the Public Administration of the region of Aragon, according to the Government of Aragon guidelines, the administrative and management actions in forest, water and environment and tourism. Among others, it has competencies in development of tasks regarding climate change; development of environmental education, awareness and citizen participation; preservation of the natural environment, including protected natural areas, and its rational use for the sustainable development; biodiversity conservation, Natura 2000 Network, and wild flora and fauna; forest policy, protection, administration and management of forests; promotion of the environmental quality; intervention in soil contamination; waste plan and surveillance, inspection and sanction of the activities of production and management of residues. In what refers to the Climate change, the Government of Aragon accumulates a technical, administrative and political experience over 20 years. Specifically, the General Directorate of Environmental Education is responsible for monitoring and development of actions on climate change and clean energy; promotion and integration of public policies aimed at reducing greenhouse gases in the diffuse sector and the regulated sector; collaborating in the management of the European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (E-PRTR) and EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS); promoting measures to adapt to climate change and act as an information point with respect to specialized national and international organizations.
