Catania is an Italian municipality of 298,200 inhabitants. The city is the heart of an urban agglomeration extending up to the south-eastern slopes of Mount Etna. It is the center of the most densely populated metropolitan area in Sicily, as well as the industrial, logistical and commercial hub. Catania is divided into six municipalities and from an administrative point of view there are two coordination areas. The environmental policies management of the municipality of Catania (MUCA), belonging to the second coordination area, is currently involved as partner to the following HORIZON 2022, program: ”Climate adaptation and resilience Demonstrated in the Mediterranean Region – CARDIMED”. The latter is responsible for the management of public gardens, green spaces and correlated issues.
