The Intermunicipal Community of Alentejo Central (CIMAC) is a collective person of public law of associative nature and territorial scope and aims the achievement of common interests of the municipalities that integrate it. CIMAC is composed by the Municipalities of Alandroal, Arraiolos, Borba, Estremoz, Évora, Montemor-o-Novo, Mora, Mourão, Portel, Redondo, Reguengos de Monsaraz, Vendas Novas, Viana do Alentejo and Vila Viçosa, with an area of 7.393,4 km2 and a population of 152.511 inhabitants. Without prejudice to the attributions transferred by the Central Administration and the municipalities, the Intermunicipal Community aims to pursue the following public purposes: a) Promotion of the planning and management of the economic, social and environmental development strategy of the territory covered; b) Articulation of municipal investments of inter-municipal interest; c) Participation in the management of regional development support programs; d) Planning of the actions of public entities of a supra-municipal nature.
